THE GATHERING working on 9th studio album
THE GATHERING have posted an update on their official website's forum about the new material theya re currently working on. "Dear all, Sorry it has been a while since you've heard from us. We apologize for this. It actually means that we have been really busy with the band. During the last couple of months we created a lot of new ideas that lead to the first songs of our upcoming CD. Yes, we are working on a new album! Or actually, two new albums! Many of our new songs are very rock and guitar orientated and will end up on a heavy rock album for sure. The second album will be filled with more 'shoe gaze', dreamy tracks. We can imagine if you are very curious about new vocalists. Currently, we are working with several. It feels very refreshing and interesting to work with different voices and it adds beautiful new colours to our music. Names will be presented as soon as our ideas become more concrete. As promised you will hear new material by the end of this year. The release of our new album is planned for Spring 2009. On behalf of the band, Hans Rutten" The band released 'A Noise Severe' double-DVD and double-CD sets in February via THE END RECORDS. The double-live CD, recorded during The Gathering’s South American ‘Homelands’ tour, is the last release to feature singer Anneke van Giersbergen and showcases the band’s more rock-oriented music. The release helps us look back at a special period of the band’s history, as well as stands as the beginning of a new era. The DVD was filmed in front of 4,000 fans at Teatro Caupolicán in Santiago, Chile. 'A Noise Severe' is the heavier follow-up to The Gathering’s award-winning DVD, 'A Sound Relief.' Proving once again that they're a band to be reckoned with, Mindless Self Indulgence (MSI) debuts on Billboard's Top 200 Album Sales Chart at an astonishing #27 with their album if! Peeking into the underground realm where the band has forged a massive cult following, mainstream tome Entertainment Weekly dubs the album "like the entire Ozzfest - with a wee bit of cabaret interlude - condensed into 45 minutes." Released Tuesday, April 29th on UCR/The End Records, if has already spawned amazing chart numbers prior to album release. Still holding steady since its debut six weeks ago, the single "Never Wanted To Dance" remains at the #1 Position on Billboard's Hot Dance Single Sales Chart. No strangers to the dance charts, singles from their last full length, "Straight to Video" and "Shut Me Up," have both hit #1 and remained in the Top Ten for over a year each. MSI also prove that in addition to their sales and chart rankings, they are a formidable presence online, with a fan-base which is not only rabid, but also incredibly faithful. For the last month, MSI have remained the Number One Band on MySpace Music in all territories, and in all genres they are competing for. It should be noted, MSI is the ONLY band to remain on the Top Ten Artist Chart consecutively since the inception of MySpace Music. In addition to MySpace, the band has recently had Top 5 rankings on YouTube as well as a smorgasbord of other social networking sites. The band is currently at the start of its national Spring/Summer tour and will be playing Fort Lauderdale's Revolution tonight with dates leading them back to a massive hometown show in NYC on June 27th. The Birthday Massacre, Combichrist, London After Midnight, Hollowboy, Tub Ring, Fake Shark Real Zombie, and A Kiss Could Be Deadly are support in select cities. Mindless Self Indulgence's new album if was released on April 29, 2008 on UCR/The End Records. Ordering info is available now at mindlessselfindulgence.com. Chicago's TUB RING are gearing up for the for some long overdue West Coast dates, several of them with MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE "I can never think of more than one or two witty greetings to start my updates with, so I'm just going to say 'fuck it' and forego any sort of pleasant opening. If you haven't heard yet, we're heading out in late May-mid June to play a week's worth of shows with our friends Mindless Self Indulgence and The Birthday Massacre, and paying a long overdue visit to the West coast. We finally stopped ignoring all of your e-mails and pleas to come West and rounded up a few shows, so get your asses in gear and check out the dates (http://www.myspace.com/tubring), then tell us you hate us because we're still not coming to your city. Look at me, I'm rambling...surprise surprise! Back to the point at hand, the MSI shows are already selling out, so rather than waiting until the last minute and then being totally crushed when you find out that the show you were coming to see is sold out, it'd be a good idea to get your tickets now. All of the shows in May and June are going to be wild, it goes without saying that we're extremely excited to be out with MSI and TBM and to visit some of our friends on the West coast. Now, for some more good news. Uncensored Interviews just posted a whole slew of clips from an interview we did with them. You can learn all about the super powers we want to have, what music I find more stimulating that cocaine, and even hear snippets of some of the first songs we ever wrote. Check out this link (http://www.uncensoredinterview.com/artists/162-Tub-Ring) and educate yourselves. Lastly, we've posted a new song from 'The Great Filter' on our Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/tubring). It's called "Glass Companion" and it's probably the swingin'est song your ears will ever digest, it's the last thing you're going to hear for a while as we continue writing for the new album. Over and out, Trevor" FOX's Fearless Music, who recently aired the the band performing the song 'Killers in Love' off of their recent album The Great Filter (on THE END RECORDS). VOIVOD, who last performed live on July 30th, 2003 during OzzFest in Florida, will return to the stage on June 22nd, 2008 as part of the Heavy MTL Festival in Montreal ( http://www.heavymtl.com )
The band has issued an update regarding their upcoming live appearances.
"A lot has happened since the band's last live appearance. The band had taken time off to begin writing what would become the album Katorz. In April 2005 while the new album was in progress, guitarist Denis 'Piggy' D'Amour became ill before recording began and sadly died of colon cancer. It took awhile to recover from the sudden passing of Denis before Michel 'Away' Langevin, Denis 'Snake' Belanger and Jason 'Jasonic' Newsted could begin to assemble the songs from the demos and create Katorz.
Discussions of a tribute show and possible guitar players for it followed, yet it just did not seem right to perform without Denis, but time does help heal wounds and this summer Voivod feel it is time to perform the music Denis helped create once more.
On June 22, Voivod will perform in Montreal as part of the Heavy MTL festival and July 26th, 2008 in Calgary for the Monsters of Rock festival ( http://www.monstersofrockfestival.com ) with original bass player Jean-Yves Theriault ('Blacky') for the first time in 17 years.
Dan Mongrain from the Quebec band Martyr, a good friend of the band, will play guitar. Songs from the early catalogue will be the focus for these short festival sets. Jason Newsted is still very much part of the Voivod family and is working with the band on the new record (also constructed from the 2004 demos) along with Jean-Yves Theriault and Eric Forrest. However, Newsted is unable to perform live at this point.
Denis and Michel are determined to play more shows in the future to celebrate Denis 'Piggy' D'Amour's legacy. Stay tuned." |

Finnish monster rock n' roll band LORDI have entered the studio to record the followup to 'The Arockalypse' The band has issued the following update: "The band hit the studio today to record their fourth album, the follow-up to the successful 'The Arockalypse' album. About the recording, the band says: "We don't wanna record "The Arockalypse Part 2" - but we won't forget our roots either." The band chose from over 60 songs to record: "It's the same positive problem as always," laughs guitarist Amen, "Oh yeah, 60 demos is a lot to listen to,but at the same time it's a lot of fun. This is the first time bassist Ox and keyboardist Lady Awa will be in the studio at the start of a recording: "I'm so excited! I just can't wait to hear the final results. The new songs kick ass so hard! I honestly think that this is gonna be the best Lordi album," says a thrilled Ox. Lady Awa is enthusiastic about the new album too: "I joined the band at the time when Lordi was recording 'The Arockalypse' album, so I had to go straight to the studio and I didn't have much time to get to know the new songs," says keyboardist Awa, "Now I've had a couple of years -- such a joyride -- and I have had time to "get in" into the band. So now I'm even more excited about making the new album, choosing and practicing the songs. I have even tried to compose a little bit by myself." The recordings should be finished by summer, with the new album due out later this year." THE END RECORDS have set a release date of June 24th, 2008 for the North American release of 'The Ruiner' from Brooklyn-based band MADE OUT OF BABIES
The band's third album is their most inspired and complex offering to date. While The Ruiner retains the group's trademark ferocious hybrid of PJ Harvey, Jesus Lizard, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Big Black, it also finds the band's musical exploration showcasing something unsettling and unique. Using photos from exhibits on the evolution of mankind at The Museum of Natural History in New York City, the album artwork was designed by critically-acclaimed artist Seldon Hunt (Isis, Pelican, The Melvins, Peeping Tom). When MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE (MSI) uploaded their entire new album if onto their MySpace page (www.myspace.com/mindlessselfindulgence), the social networking site probably wasn't expecting that on Monday, April 21st, in just one day's time, the streams for all the new tracks of the album would exceed 680,000 unique plays. Currently the Number One Band on MySpace Music in all countries and all genres, MSI has always had a strong presence on that social networking site practically since Day One when they established their profile in 2004. Their presence on MySpace has been unsurpassable, even before the "MySpace Music" monikor was established. In addition, MSI have been the ONLY band to remain on the Top Ten Artists Charts since the inception of MySpace Music (even Tila Tequila hadn't tapped into the site yet)! For a band who is unconcerned with chart positions, MSI have been no strangers to top slots due in larger part to the ferver of their increasingly large fanbase. Oftentimes managing to debut at Numero Uno on a wide gamut of charts including dance singles, sales, daily plays, radio and magazine polls, and other industry benchmarks, it has become abundantly clear MSI and their fans are a force to be reckoned with. In fact, lead-up to the release if on April 29th (UCR/The End Records), has already secured its own share of number one positions. The first single "Mastermind" sold over 1,000 downloads on the first 12 hours alone, while the second single "Never Wanted to Dance" debuted at #1 on Billboard's "Hot Sales Singles Chart" and still remains in the Top Five of that chart. The band is currently on a near sold-out tour through the UK and will be coming back to the States next week to start their national support of if. A plethora of eclectic bands will accompany them, including (but not limited to) The Birthday Massacre, Combichrist, London After Midnight, Hollowboy, Tub Ring, Fake Shark Real Zombie, and A Kiss Could Be Deadly in select cities. MSI are currently running an "online order contest" in which fans can win a personalized message from band vox/programmer/mastermind Jimmy Urine. Info on this contest can be found here: http://www.mindlessselfindulgence.com/ifcontest/ Mindless Self Indulgence's new album if will be released on April 29, 2008 on UCR/The End Records in four different cover art incarnations, including a limited edition deluxe edition and 12" vinyl. THINE EYES BLEED self-titled album is now available in North America via THE END RECORDS. You can also purchase the new album at THE END's mailorder site THE OMEGA. Go here: http://www.theomegaorder.com/s.nl/it.A/id.19398/.f After taking a year off to write and record, THINE EYES BLEED return to the metal scene with an album of pure brutality and technical thrash ferocity, a blistering onslaught of dagger-like riffs, detonating rhythm section and lung-collapsing vocals. The album's songwriting and drive of the self-titled release surpasses the work assembled on the debut, 2005's In the Wake of Separation. What the press are saying... "Thine Eyes Bleed excel at fusing complex thrash and death-metal passages..." - REVOLVER "...a heavy-handed thrash menagerie that'll make you seriously consider growing your hair long again just so you can whip that bitch to and fro." - DECIBEL "...the songs are undoubtedly angry and the album unquestionably brims with a renewed sense of purpose and principle...an impressive leap forward for Thine Eyes Bleed." - BW&BK "...supercharged and razor sharp riffs....a solid effort..." - PIVOTAL RAGE “A great piece of melodic thrash” – INTO OBSCURITY "...razor-sharp guitars in the Swedish vein...[TEB] thrash a lot, got melodies and intense melodic hooks..." - METAL PERSPECTIVES Official THINE EYES BLEED website: http://www.thineeyesbleed.com Official MySpace Site: http://www.myspace.com/thineeyesbleed |

Mirai Kawashima, frontman for Japanese black metal act SIGH, has issued a statement about the band's involvement in the upcoming documentary 'GLOBAL METAL,' director Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn's follow-up to 2005's critically-acclaimed documentary, 'A HEADBANGER'S JOURNEY.' The band's song "Me Devil" - off of 2007's 'Hangman's Hymn' - is played prominently in the movie's trailer and will be featured on the soundtrack to coincide with the movie's release. Says Kawashima, "It's a great honor to be featured in the film as we enjoyed A Headbanger's Journey a lot. We do hope this documentary will be a trigger to help spread the Eastern plague and terror some more!" You can view the trailer here: http://www.globalmetalfilm.com/03/GM_03.html Synopsis: The directors Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn set out to discover how the West’s most maligned musical genre – heavy metal – has impacted the world’s cultures beyond Europe and North America. The film follows metal fan and anthropologist Sam Dunn on a whirlwind journey through Asia, South America and the Middle East. In other SIGH news, the band recently completed the recording six song tribute to VENOM, titled Sigh's Tribute to Venom. Chicago's TUB RING are gearing up for the start of the upcoming 'Happily Ever Aftour' this week with Crash Romeo, Driver Side Impact and School Boy Humour.
Following the three week tour, the band has been added as opening act for a few shows with MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE. All dates are below. In an update online, bassist Trevor Erb says: "Hey gang, As I'm writing this, we've got one rehearsal left before we head out for the Happily Ever Aftour. There's definitely going to be something for everyone on this tour, and we're excited to get out and make some new friends. This tour's going to be taking us to some warmer climates, and I think we're all ready for it. I should probably remind the crew to pack some swimwear, but I haven't owned any since my hot purple and black Speedos were retired with my swimming career back in 8th grade. Maybe it's time to bring back the old days? Oh yeah, I almost forgot, someone's probably going to break a bone on this run. Chris broke his toe on the last run, and I've started a pre-emptive strike with taking out a chunk of my elbow. Health insurance is for sissies. Following this tour, we're going to be heading out for some dates with our friends, Mindless Self Indulgence. That's right, the upper West coast/midwest is in for some trouble when we roll through in June. Logical thinking would suggest that you can check our dates out to see where we're going to be playing and when. You won't want to miss these shows, so get your tickets now, because these shows will probably sell out, and then you'll cry to us about how you couldn't get in, and then everybody's crying. With that being said, it's time to head to rehearsals, load the trailer, pack our bags, watch the return of The Office (holllaaaa), and hit the road. That's right, we're going to hit the road, with our fists and our fury. Call up the streets and sanitation department, Tub Ring is coming to town. Over and out, Trevor" Catch TUB RING live HAPPILY EVER AFTOUR (w/ Crash Romeo, Driver Side Impact, School Boy Humor) 04/11/08 Fri @ Southgate House - Newport, KY (Tub Ring only) 04/13/08 Sun @ Crocodile Rock - Allentown, PA 04/14/08 Mon @ Peabodys - Cleveland, OH 04/15/08 Tue @ The Annex - Madison, WI 04/16/08 Wed @ The Warehouse - Lacrosse, WI 04/17/08 Thu @ Station 4 - St. Paul, MN 04/18/08 Fri @ Reggies - Chicago, IL 04/19/08 Sat @ RPMP - South Bend, IN 04/20/08 Sun @ Pops - St. Louis, MO 04/21/08 Mon @ Fusion Affect Venue - Shawnee, OK 04/22/08 Tue @ The Door - Dallas, TX 04/23/08 Wed @ White Rabbit - San Antonio, TX 04/24/08 Thu @ Red 7 - Austin, TX 04/25/08 Fri @ Javajazz - Houston, TX 04/26/08 Sat @ The High Ground - New Orleans, LA 04/27/08 Sun @ The Beta Bar - Tallahassee, FL 04/28/08 Mon @ The Orpheum - Tampa, FL 04/29/08 Tue @ Jack Rabbits - Jacksonville, FL 04/30/08 Wed @ The Masquerade - Atlanta, GA 05/01/08 Thu @ The Muse - Nashville, TN (w/ Mindless Self Indulgence) 05/31/08 Sat @ Big Easy Concert House - Spokane, WA 06/06/08 Fri @ Avalon Theater - SLC, UT 06/07/08 Sat @ Ogden Theater - Denver, CO 06/08/08 Sun @ Sokol Auditorium - Omaha, NE 06/09/08 Mon @ Beaumont Club - Kansas City, MO 06/10/08 Tue @ The Cotillion - Wichita, KS |

Anneke van Giersbergen - ex-GATHERING singer who now fronts AGUA DE ANNIQUE -- has posted an update on the upcoming Ticket for Tibet Festival and her collaboration with Moonspell on their new album "Dear people! Today is a sunny day in Holland! Flowers blossom and the Agua shores are rising. I am a happy mother! Allow me to barge in with good news. As you may know I have recorded a single with some of Hollands greatest artists for the good cause of Tibet. We sing a beautiful Dutch song: Als Je Ooit Nog Eens Terug Kan (If You Could Ever Return) This single is out now and download-able trough the following link: http://system.aim4music.com/shops/minishop/tibet.aspx
If ever, I ask you now to join us and raise money and awareness for the Tibetan people and their situation.
The money that we will raise will go directly to three Tibetan nuns who live in exile in the north of India. They have been singing a protest song on the steps of the Dalai Lama’s palace and have been arrested by the Chinese government. For six years they have been severely tortured in prison and their physical damage is so bad that they are not able to work a proper job. They would love to study and live a proper, fulfilling life and money is needed for that. We are doing all we can to help them achieve this goal. Help us help them by downloading the single! Many thanks! More info on Tibet and the Ticket for Tibet Festival here: http://www.ticketfortibet.com/en/home.html
In the past few months I have been doing many different projects, collaborations and gigs. Some bigger some small. I am inspired and blessed with all these great jobs. One of which is my collaboration with Moonspell. I sang on their upcoming album Night Eternal which will come out in May.
Check out this song 'Scorpion Flower' on their MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/moonspell Also, my dear friend Danny Cavanagh and I will do some more shows together. This time we will go abroad so check our sites for dates. We will put them up soon. I am looking forward to this very much! The coming months we are playing many shows and festivals in Holland and we are just peeking round the corner to continue our gigs abroad. Starting with the Paris & Lille ones this month, Romania in July and we are busy with some more in the fall this year. I have also written a bunch of new songs which we will take into the studio this summer. The songs will be more rock oriented and of course I will provide you with all the intensity and romance you are used to hearing from Agua as well. And last but not the least of news: We are working on our online merchandise shop. We will let you know as soon as our collection Agua merch is in the air!
Have yourself a wonderful day...XxX Anneke"

TOUR DATES 04/18/08 Fri @ Botanique - Brussels, Belgium (w/ Year of No Light) 04/19/08 Sat @ Roadburn Festival - Tilburg, Holland (w/ lots of people) 04/20/08 Sun @ Die Friese - Bremen, Germany (w/ Allseits) 04/22/08 Tue @ Marketable - Hamburg, Germany (w/ Troum & Allseits) 04/24/08 Thu @ Katapultapr 24 - Arhus, Denmark (Nadja & Aidan Baker sets) 04/25/08 Fri @ Loppen Apr 25 - Copenhagen, Denmark (Nadja & Aidan Baker sets, w/ Chasing Eudaimonia)
What the press are saying about NADJA: “Commanding, encompassing and occasionally savage, the album employs all of the band's hallmarks: sinewy strands of guitar layered beyond individual recognition, errant yet powerful percussion and an unconstrained but no less purposeful sense of buildup." - Casey Rae-Hunter, DUSTED MAGAZINE
"When Toronto electro-metal duo Nadja are at the height of their powers, the entire world feels as if it could collapse beneath the pressure of a manipulated guitar, a drum machine, a bass, and two bent voices." - Grayson Currin, PITCHFORK MEDIA
"Nadja have all the style, velocity and impact of a Stealth bomber." - Edwin Pouncey, THE WIRE
"Nadja’s unabashed love of atonal classical music beams (albeit dully) throughout, stressing lack-of-form over function, making something normally scary into something wholly frightening." - DECIBEL
"The doom-laden sludge is thick with ambient synths cushioning the blows, but when the band combines the punishment of early Swans with the cinematic scope of later Swans, things really open up." - MONTREAL MIRROR |

You can also purchase the album here: http://www.theomegaorder.com/s.nl/sc.13/category.82482/.f Jarboe is known for her 14 years work with the legendary NYC East Village ArtRock band Swans, as well as her recent musical collaborations with such bands as Jesu, Neurosis and A Perfect Circle. Broadrick, who joined pioneering U.K. grind band Napalm Death at the age of 15, formed the influential metal/industrial act Godlflesh in the late-80s and in 2003 started up his current band Jesu. About working with Broadrick, Jarboe says, "When I met Justin, he commented upon the impact and influence of Swans upon his music. We did a concert together in London in 2005 and began discussing working together. I had also been drawn to the unique energy of Jesu and so this was exciting to explore." "...the pairing of the two really couldn't be more fitting...a constant give and take of Broadrick's discordant notes and Jarboe's angelic vocals...a spellbinding tug-of-war between the sacred and the profane..." - DECIBEL "Broadrick and Jarboe possess an uncanny ability to imbue dissociative soundscapes with a kind of naked, yearning humanity and emotion....J2 feels like the beginning of something tentative and graceful." - TERRORIZER "J2 is a true marriage of extremes...Never less than mesmerizing, the album plucks heartstrings and strokes the nerves to awful splendor. A masterful work." -- METAL MANIACS "...the pairing of the two really couldn't be more fitting...a constant give and take of Broadrick's discordant notes and Jarboe's angelic vocals...a spellbinding tug-of-war between the sacred and the profane..." - DECIBEL "...music that will appeal to fans of [JARBOE and BROADRICK's] earlier work, but without resting on cliche or the expectd." - METAL EDGE "...a thing of beauty in a dark and unrelenting way...J2 is a perfect example of when everything is put aside except the pursuit of true art." - NONELOUDER "...experimental masterpiece...it's all about the mood and atmosphere..." - THE AQUARIAN "...uplifting with their slightly demented ambience..." - GIANT ROBOT |
